A long-standing mentorship program is an included benefit of membership in the College of Professional Pilots of Canada. Unlike other mentorship programs, we do not aim to monetize this service. We recognize a key component of professional development is the positive effects of guidance by peers, and pilot to pilot support at various career & life stages. The profession is built on, and by, the life and work of pilots around you. Sharing past experiences, decision-making rationales, and observations after a time amplifies benefits to both mentors and mentees.
The only requirements to participate, as a mentor or mentee, are that you be a College member in good standing, and agree to sign a Mentor-Mentee contract form.
We encourage pilots of all levels to indicate their participation. Having a mix of experience among mentors facilitates link-ups to suit their situation or inquiry. Whether it is taking the first step into the career, a major life change, a change-of-employer decision, or nearing retirement, getting another opinion or simply talking to someone who has gone through a similar situation can provide vital perspectives.
